Do what you love; you’ll be better at it. It sounds pretty simple, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t get this one right away. -LL Cool J
So many people spend their lives complaining that they are Jaded from their current position in their job. They seem stuck in a routine that they can’t manage to escape. I’ve seen so many people become nostalgic “I used to have dreams” I have to ask you, What happened to your dreams?
So often these are the excuses I hear:
- Lack of know how
- Lack of finance
- lack of motivation
If you don’t invest in yourself, You are only investing in someone else. Love is key, Know that you deserve the best in life. You deserve to love yourself.
Here is my story, I got married at 18, Gave birth to my first child at 19. While my daughter slept I found myself writing poems, Blogging, creating videos online then editing them. I’d browse eBay and amazon. These were my many enjoyments apart from motherhood. My Husband would say to me, Why not write a book? I thought to myself. That is impossible, I have no clue how to do that. Though a couple months before I met my ex Husband I used a website Poetry.com to share my poetry. I had never connected the dots on how to use that very website to publish a book. a year later poetry.com changed their name to lulu.com. I was at a total loss at what that meant. so I just gave up on the website and the thought of being a poet for many years. While secretly writing poetry late nights when I was alone with my thoughts. After my divorce, I spent roughly 4 years caught up in the dating scene. So many disappointments occurred in that time, I was trying to find something to fill the void that I had created myself. That’s right, Myself. The void was never another person. It was always the need to create, to write, to express myself. In 2014 I had an Ah-ha moment, Romanic relationships are not for me, I sat down, opened up Google doc and began writing. I told my mum, I am going to write a book. She, of course, didn’t have much to say, But it didn’t matter, I was focused. I must say I was shocked at what I was writing, It was so much better than what I had written down on paper. over the years I had become better. I’d only imagine it was due to all the practice I had over the last 8-9 years. I spent five months writing, Then I put my first book together. I published it but was unsatisfied with the cover and name. So, I took a couple months away from that project. I Started working at a restaurant, within a couple months I came back to the book. Changed the cover and name, then published it. March 29th, 2016. My book was listed in major bibliographic databases. I had officially achieved something back in 2006 I thought was impossible, something I had no clue about using the very site I shared poetry on when I was 18. The best part is I didn’t spend any money to publish my book. It was free apart from having to buy my own book to be able to go Global. Which was pretty cheap. Only a small expense invested in me that in turn satisfied something in me that I could never have found on a dating site. Accomplishment! It felt great, So many years I spent telling myself I couldn’t do it. Yet, I did it. That is a great feeling indeed.
A year after I published my book I had been looking for ways to Further my goals, I started doing online survey’s, Because I like money, Who doesn’t? I also Love shopping. As a customer, I do have opinions. I mean have you seen some of the commercials on Tv as of lately. They are well, less than par. I then came across Affiliate marketing, Do I mind being the third person, No, In fact, it takes all the sales responsibility out of my hands, I get to promote things I love. while gaining commission. Hello, That is perfect for me. I had been promoting Amazon for years. Now, I get paid to do so. If wish.com had an affiliate program I would promote them as well, Because I absolutely love that website, I am a regular customer. I am somewhat Biase. But, Hey oh well.
Now Back to LL cool J Quote. Do what you love; you’ll be better at it. It sounds pretty simple, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t get this one right away.
It may take time to figure out how to do what you are passionate about while gaining revenue. Rome was not built in a day. In fact, It took 1,009,491 days to build Rome.
It all starts with wanting to make a change in your life and doing it. Each day doing one thing that brings you closer to your goal, Whatever that is that gets you closer to your goal. Make investments for your tomorrow. The more you invest for your future you will find that you have one less tear for your past. I wish you all the best in achieving your goals.
